Sale of Audi in India for the month of June has shot up by 14 percent. The luxury car-maker has now projected a sale of 2,700 cars for the year 2010. Audi sold 240 cars in June last year whereas this year it has sold only 233 cars the same month. However, Audi has recorded a growth of 71 percent for the period January to June 2010 by selling 1,400 Audi’s which is claimed to be the highest sale in a half year in India for Audi.
Michael Perschke, the head of Audi India who had taken up the position recently quoted that the increase in demand for the Audi cars in India has enforced a revision in the targets for 2010 by 25%. As a result, the company is contemplating an increase in the production capacity to 6,000 cars a year by 2015. 1,658 cars have been sold by the company last year leveraging on the luxury cars and sport-utility vehicles demand which is perennially increasing.
He further added that Audi’s performance in the first half year is satisfactory and anticipated setting up a new beginning for them in India
30 million euros have been allocated by the German based Volkswagen group for investing in the Indian market on its premium car brand Audi for the product improvement and technology enhancement.
Assembling of the Audi Q5 model has begun in its Aurangabad plant as an initiative of Audi’s long term growth plan in India.
Q5, the sports car model of Audi is being produced in India, the third in the range after A4 and A6. It has planned to produce 1,500 units every year to be sold in the Indian market. The range in India for Audi comprises of Q5, A4, A6, A8, Q7 and TT. A8 model would be imported into Indian market as intended by the German luxury car-maker.
