Two suspected terrorists, which got arrested on the charge of planning terrorist attacks in Mumbai (India), received phone calls from Karachi (Pakistan). This was traced and confirmed from the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) today. “The phone calls the duo were receiving have been traced to Karachi in Pakistan. They had received calls on a regular basis, in which they were instructed to ensure that the targets get reduced to ashes,” said the official, requesting to stay anonymous.
The duo, Abdul Latif alias Guddu (29) and Riyaz Ali alias Rehan (23), residents of suburban Bandra and Dahisar, got arrested near the Matunga railway station in central Mumbai on Saturday. Anti Terrorism Squad chief Raghuvanshi said that the preliminary probe suggested the duo was getting instructions from someone called ‘Uncle’ from Pakistan to execute their activities here.
Both suspected terrorists had plans for 3 targets — the headquarters of the petroleum company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), the Thakkar Mall and also the Mangaldas Market. They planned to carry out attacks including sabotage and setting those targets on fire.
